Fire sprinkler protection system, UK

Balmoral Tanks case study

These tanks are used in a typical factory/warehouse sprinkler application offering a combined effective capacity of 1335m3.

The tanks are fitted with immersion heaters and ancillaries in accordance with Fire Sprinkler Regulations including contents gauges, drain valves, hinged float valve chambers, side entry manways, Balmoral FireFlow™ vortex inhibitors and float valves.

The cylindrical tank was designed with a special roof recess to allow the building’s structural beams to pass over the top of the tank unheeded.

The external ladder and handrail are manufactured in compliance to BS4211 which includes kick plate and a self-closing gate at the top of the caged ladder. Level switches are fitted for low level readings (90% capacity) that are transmitted to a BMS system.

Installation of the tanks was carried out by Balmoral AIRS approved erectors.
